Replaces the failed motor on a modern combi boiler pump. You keep the pump body and the pipework, and change only the head.

𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿: combi boilers fitted in the UK since 2015, where the pump motor has failed but the body and pipework are sound · boilers whose old head is a PWM type with an anticlockwise rotor arrow · smart home, underfloor, solar and heat pump systems, because the same PWM input lets a third party controller drive it · landlord and social housing repairs in one visit, often without draining the system

𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗳

• Your boiler pump has failed but the body and pipework are sound

• The rotor arrow on the old motor points anticlockwise

• The old head is a Grundfos UPM3 or UPM4

The boiler controls the head over PWM, a low voltage signal from the boiler's own board through the supplied cable. PWM is a standard signal, so it works with boilers from the main UK brands (check the boiler's PWM profile before ordering), and the supplied PWM cable is a universal two-wire lead that also connects to a thermostat or third party controller. Run without PWM, the head offers AUTO, constant pressure, proportional pressure and three fixed speeds. Eleven programs in total.

A typical head swap takes 10 to 15 minutes: four bolts off, cables off, new head on. Replacing the whole pump assembly can take hours. Error codes show on the display if something is wrong. Electrical and thermal protection is built in, designed to protect the motor against wiring faults, a seized rotor after a long idle spell, or a voltage spike. Automatic night power reduction to 5 W.

𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀: Grundfos UPM3 and UPM4 and more.

𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘅: head, universal bolts, high temperature gasket, 0.7 m cable, PWM cable set at no charge, Grundfos power and PWM adaptors, fastening screws, datasheet, in a sturdy box.

Figures are from the BritTherm datasheet for each model. Check the datasheet and the fitting instructions before you order, and have the pump fitted by a competent person. Guarantee subject to registration and the guarantee terms.
